In 2003, he directd a (one hour and thirty minutes) live projection for the
JEAN-PHILIPPE GOUDE's contemporary
live show ROCK DE CHAMBRE (Air
Libre theatre, Rennes, Brittany – Café de la Danse, Paris –
Théâtre Nationale de Bretagne, Rennes). Then in 2005, Alain Escalle
met the world of the French Pop Star MYLÈNE
FARMER which asked him to project THE
TALE OF THE FLOATING WORLD as the first part of her 13 Paris-Bercy
shows, but also to conceive all the visual effects of her pharaonic live show
AVANT QUE L'OMBRE... BERCY 2006.
Escalle works as much in France as abroad, and particularly in Japan, where he directed many commissioned works such as NTT DATA, a Japanese Telecoms campain about the world of surrealist painter Salvador Dali. He lately directed the new film for the LANCÔME perfume MIRACLE, an international campain starring Diane KRUGER (Troy, My Idol), in new icon for the brand as well as the short-film MANGA MAKER to launch the new JEAN-PAUL GAULTIER' s fragrance GAULTIER PUISSANCE 2.
Escalle regularly takes part in TV projects (THE CYBER NIGHT, Canal+), Short-films and feature films or video clips for the music industry. His personal works are show on national TV channels Arte (a joint German/French channel), Canal + or France 3. He won many awards in international festivals (FCMM, Imagina, Nicograph in Japan, Ars Electronica in Austria, Monitors Awards, Locarno, etc...).
Escalle was guest of honour at the 2002 E-MAGICIENS festival, where the best juniors in digital animation compete to show their skill. Escalle presented the audience with the retrospective of his works and the whole of his digital installations. Since, others exihibitions and retrospectives of these works were organised in France, and also in several European countries.
Alain Escalle is very interested in working with professionals from other fields (dance, theatre, opera). He’s equally keen on further exploring more experimental paths, be it in the field of cinema of animation for instance. His current project, THE BOOK OF THE DEAD marks the start of a new creative project that will take shape in the coming years…
